Starter Evaluation and Replacement
This starter consists of a solenoid, drive gear and a starter motor. The starter is used to rotate the engine until ignition occurs.
When the low current start signal is applied to the solenoid, the coil in the solenoid generates a magnetic field. This field causes the drive gear to extend and contact the flywheel or flex plate and the high current switch within the solenoid to connect the current from the positive battery cable to the starter motor. The starter motor will then rotate the engine.
